Description
This item was taken from the IEEE Conference ' Characterization of liquid crystals 5CB in terahertz frequency ' We have characterized the refractive indices of nematic liquid crystals 5 CB in a frequency range from 0.2 to 1.4 THz. The experimental results indicate that the 5 CB has comparatively large birefringence in this frequency regime. Electric field-induced birefringence in the THz regime was also observed. This is a good indication of device applications of liquid crystals in the THz range.
