This item was taken from the IEEE Conference ' S-band vircator with electron beam premodulation based on compact inductive energy storage generator ' On the base of a compact HV pulser with inductive energy store, an S-band vircator with premodulation of electron beam was realized. The peak output power was /spl sim/300 MW with /spl sim/5% power efficiency and 50 ns pulse width. The microwave frequency was constant during the pulse as determined by the electrodynamic system.
