Description
This item was taken from the IEEE Conference ' Mid-IR angled-grating distributed feedback (/spl alpha/-DFB) "W" lasers ' In order to significantly improve the beam quality for wide pump stripes, we have fabricated and tested the first mid-IR angled-grating distributed feedback (a-DFB) lasers. A schematic of the /spl alpha/-DFB geometry is shown alongside the conventional Fabry-Perot configuration. Both the diffraction grating and the gain stripe are tilted at an angle (chosen to be 16") with respect to the facet normals.
