Designs and MAGIC simulations from a X-band coaxial relativistic backward wave oscillator

This item was taken from the IEEE Conference ' Designs and MAGIC simulations from a X-band coaxial relativistic backward wave oscillator ' A high-power X-band coaxial relativistic backward wave oscillator has been conceptually designed and analyzed. The dispersions of the high frequency structure used in the device was calculated. MAGIC, an electron-magnetic particle-in-cell code, is being used to investigated the nonlinear beam-wave interaction and other design optimization issues. Preliminary simulation results shows that the BWO can generate 1.2 GW peak power microwave at 11.8 GHz in the TM/sub 02/ mode driven by a 450-kV 20-kA electron beam.
