EXODUS: an object-oriented network management system

By: Marshall, E.; Harpster, S.; Whitefield, D.;

1994 / IEEE / 0-7803-1820-X

This item was taken from the IEEE Periodical ' EXODUS: an object-oriented network management system ' The paper presents EXODUS, a next generation object-oriented network management system for very large networks. Most modern network management systems use a relational database and are inherently non-distributable, allowing them to manage a network of, at most, several thousand nodes. By using an object-oriented approach, the authors are able to distribute the network management system across many hosts, allowing them to manage a virtually unlimited size network.
