This item was taken from the IEEE Periodical ' A self-routing Lambda based TDM optical switching architecture ' We present a time multiplexed switching (TMS) architecture built from 2/spl times/2 optical exchange switches with feed-forward fiber delays for the time-space-time domain permutation in telecommunications. The multichannel time slot permuter is based on the bit-controlled, spatial Lambda network. For L=2/sup l/ parallel frames of 2/sup l/ time slots each, the multichannel time slot permuter has a hardware complexity of O(L/2(l+m)/sup 3/) and a local switch control complexity of O(1).<>
