Description
This item was taken from the IEEE Periodical ' Repeaterless links speed up advanced photonic technologies ' The increase of the span lengths and the possibility of upgrading the bit rates are the key requirements for undersea repeaterless systems. The authors present different techniques and components in order to increase the launched power, improve the receiver sensitivity, and reduce the chirp effect. A new undersea repeaterless system at 2.5 Gb/s over distances up to 250 km could be achieved in the next five years.<
