Development of field installable terminations for cables with aramid strength members

Description
This item was taken from the IEEE Periodical ' Development of field installable terminations for cables with aramid strength members ' This paper presents test results accumulated during a program to develop field installable terminations for aramid cables. Straight tension, cyclic straight tension, strumming, flexing, and sustained load data are reported for electromechanical cables with braided aramid strength members and a newly developed helical wire wrap-on termination, Tension and cyclic tension test results are also reported for epoxy potted fittings and a proprietary experimental termination on electromechanical cable, and for aramid stranded rope with wrap-on, potted, and compression sleeve fittings. For comparison, test data is included for double armored steel cables.
