New York, NY, December 14, 2011 - AcademicPub™, the rapidly growing custom publishing solution for higher education, today announced the appointment of Canadian bookselling veteran Todd Anderson as Director, Canadian Accounts. Anderson will serve the Canadian market from his home base of Edmonton, Alberta, and work with educational institutions and publishers to continue the rapid expansion of AcademicPub in Canada.

The announcement of Anderson's new role was made by Michael Cairns, Chief Revenue Officer, SharedBook Inc., parent company of AcademicPub.

"We are pleased and proud to have Todd become part of our expanding team as we make our first step to serve higher education faculty members outside the U.S." said Cairns. "Todd is well known and respected in Canadian academia, and he brings 30 years of leadership in working with institutions and governments to promote change that will benefit students."

"I have come to know the dedicated team at SharedBook Inc. over several years as I watched them develop custom publishing solutions, first for the consumer market and then for colleges and universities through the launch and successful rollout of AcademicPub," said Anderson. "It is very exciting for me to have a chance to complement their vision and expertise with my career-long experience as an advocate for new technology at a Canadian university."

Most recently, Anderson served as President of Henday Publishing, Inc., a publishing, media and technology company in Alberta. Previously, Anderson was Director of the University of Alberta Bookstore, where he worked for 27 years, steadily progressing from Marketing Manager to General Book Buyer to Distribution Manager before being named Director.

Under Anderson's leadership, the University of Alberta Bookstore won the Canadian Booksellers Libris Award for Campus Store of the Year in 2000 and 2001, and the Canadian Publishers Council National College Store Award for 2001, 2004, 2006 and 2008.

Active in the Canadian bookselling and publishing community, Anderson served as President of the Canadian Booksellers Association from 2001 - 2003. Anderson was on the founding board of BookNet Canada, is a member of several customer advisory boards in the Canadian higher education community, and has spoken to audiences throughout Canada, the U.S. and Australia on the future of the publishing industry.
