This item was taken from the IEEE Conference ' Eddy current investigation study for a non-conventional flux concentrated permanent magnet transverse flux machine using finite element method via 3D transient approach ' The magnetic field in flux concentrated permanent magnet transverse flux machines; FCPM-TFM is of a three dimensional, 3D pattern. This will initiate the occurrence of eddy currents in the parts of conducting materials of the stator, rotor, coil conductors and in the PMs as well, where magnetic fields exist in perpendicular direction to their planes, causing an apparent reduction in the efficiency. A study of these losses is presented through utilising 3D-finite element (FE-) method via Flux3D through transient application. Pre-investigations are carried out on different stator laminations of the machine to show the feasibility of the software via steady state AC magnetic and transient approaches. Computations of losses in transient approach are shown for rotating machine operation of non-conventional FCPM-TFM in segmented structure.
