A new solenoid magnetic integrated head for digital video recording

This item was taken from the IEEE Periodical ' A new solenoid magnetic integrated head for digital video recording ' A prototype of fully integrated magnetic head for Helical Scan Recorders has been developed. A batch process adapted to mass production on silicon wafers has been developed. The solenoid structure, the azimuth angle of the gap (angle between the written bits and the perpendicular to the track direction) in the process and the laminated magnetic material make these heads compatible with digital standard for low track width Video recording (Long Play DVC). This process can lead to the fabrication of double heads with opposite azimuths and allows future increase in density by reducing the track width and gap length.
